A Fantesca Tradition

Making Napa wines together is a source of pride for our family. When we were first designing our bottle labels, our family grabbed a quick Chinese take-out dinner. We always read our fortune cookies aloud to each other because they’re such great conversation starters.

As our young daughter was reading hers, she asked “Why couldn’t we put a fortune on the corks? We could call them Fortune Corkies!” Thus a new tradition was born.

Since 2002, our Fortune Corkies have generally reflected on wine, love, and following your dreams. Every year, we produce ten Fortune Corkies that display a short quotation. In the past, nine of these quotations have come from authors ranging from Henry David Thoreau to Mae West, and a tenth quotation has been supplied by a member of our family.

Fantesca Estate & Winery invites you to nominate your favorite wine quotation to be featured as a Fortune Corkie. Should your quotation be chosen, you will receive a magnum of our 2006 Estate Cabernet sealed with a Fortune Corkie that features your quotation!

24 words are the maximum that will fit on a cork. Trust us, we know! Our family will vote on our favorites from all wine quotations submitted. In the likely case of multiple nominations for the selected quotation, we will hold a random drawing out of our associate winemaker’s mystical harvest hat.

How to Get a Full Set of Fortune Corkies

The short answer is: Drink More Wine!

Our Fortune Corkies are randomly mixed before bottling. If your case does not yield a full set, just mail us your duplicate and we will send you the cork you need to complete the set.

Drop the cork, along with a note describing the Fortune Corkie you need, into a shipping envelope (available at the post office). Mail it to:
