A Pinot Noir Wine Fit for a King

This special wine is made in honor of a family patriarch, Susan’s father Richard, who dearly loves his Pinot Noir. In the past Richard has teased us, saying that we should make a Pinot just for him. Naturally, we teased right back to say that if we did produce a Pinot, we would name it after him. And so we did!

Richard has been a successful entrepreneur his entire life. While in his twenties, his mother-in-law nicknamed him “King Richard” for his highly assertive personality and speaking ability. Little did she know that this moniker would someday end up on a fine wine label!

Sourced from the Bacigalupi Vineyard in the famed Pinot lands of the Russian River Valley, the King Richard’s Reserve Pinot Noir wine is ruby red in color and shows smooth, ripe and rich varietal traits. The typical cool-climate characteristics of fresh raspberry, cherry, cranberry, and baking spices mingle with gentle barrel vanillin to deliver heady aromas. The deeply layered palate exudes a natural, nonaggressive warmth that is full of ripe and seductive red berry jams, tart cherries, and mild espresso, with an acidity that yields to a coating of tannin in the mid- and back-palate. Enjoy now until 2015 or beyond.

Our 60-case production was whole-berry destemmed and fermented in a small open-top tank and in French Oak casks for complexity, then aged sur lies for 14 months in 50% new French Oak.

This wine is only available to members of our Velvet Rope Club.

Long Live the King!
